Part of light that reaches our eyes hits our retina. Our retina is itself made up of thousands of cones and rods. These cones and rods are the photo-receptors, that are responsible for the vision. They connect our eye to the optical nerves system with our brain. The cone part of the retina adjusts the color of the object and the rods are responsible for brightness. Also, Rods are used to see in very dim light and only show the world to us in black and white.
Due to some region the cones fails to respond some wavelength of visible light that makes the person unable to see the colors with those wavelengths. The reason is mainly genetics or it may be due to some eye injury. The person having this condition said to be suffering through color blindness.
