SEMICONDUCTOR

SO, OUR NEXT TOPIC IS SEMICONDUCTOR I HOPE YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD ALL THE BASIC TERMS WHICH I HAVE MENTIONED IN OUR PREVIOUS POST.IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT RELATED TO THE GIVEN TOPICS YOU CAN ASK IN COMMENT SECTION.

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER:
·    Semiconductors are substances which have properties between conductor and insulators
·    Semiconductors are crystalline in nature
·    Every semiconductors resistivity properties vary with change in temperature.
·    Semiconductors have negative temperature co-efficient of resistance i.e. the resistance of semiconductor decreases with increase in temperature
·    Carbon group is known as semiconductor element because their valence is 4.However carbon is not a semiconductor because it is non metal and we know the fact that non metals are poor conductor of electricity because the bond structure is a closed packed structure
·    Germanium and silicon are most commonly used semiconductors, because they are metalloids and metalloid show properties of both metals and non metals so their conductivity will lie between metal and non metal.
·    At absolute zero temperature semiconductors behave as perfect insulator.
·    Intrinsic means pure.
·    Semiconductors are of two types
  1. Intrinsic Semiconductors
  2. Extrinsic Semiconductors
